Myklebust Verft has signed a contract with AKOFS Offshore for a major upgrade of the well intervention vessel AKOFS Seafarer. According to the plan, the vessel will arrive at the yard in May and the majority of the work from the shipyard must be carried out before October 2019.
– This is a joy and historical day for all of our staff, says managing director of Myklebust shipyard, Inge-Jonny Hide. The contract is the largest rebuilding contract the yard has won and is also the first, big project that the yard gets into the order book after Myklebust and Kleven separated teams.
– The assignment will have a great employment effect for both your own workforce and for a number of subcontractors. We know AKOFS Offshore from a major assignment that we delivered three years ago. That time it was a similar vessel, AKER Wayfarer. That they should come back to us is a solid feedback to all of our employees and our partners who work here.
It was in June 2018 that the announcement came that AKOFS Offshore had won a five-year contract with Equinor where AKOFS Seafarer will carry out light well intervention assignments on the Norwegian continental shelf. The vessel will be ready for operation during the first quarter of 2020.
